Whether you are considering visiting Hope Evangelical Free Church or have already attended, we want to welcome you and let you know that there is a place for you at Hope. It is our desire to answer many of the questions you may have about the church, worship services and beliefs on this site, but please feel free to call the church at 815-623-6545 if you have any other questions at all- we'd love to talk with you.
What can I expect at a worship service?
We offer two worship services – one at 9 am and the other at 10:30 am. Our purpose in worship services at Hope is to bring glory to God focusing on Him in worship and by spending time in His Word. This is accomplished through the various parts of the service:
SERMON: Through a detailed study of a portion of the Bible, we seek to better understand God's character, plan and purpose. Bibles will be available in each pew for those who may not have one with them.
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16
MUSIC: God is praised and worshipped in traditional and contemporary hymns (praise choruses), through both instrumental and vocal music.
O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD ,Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Psalm 95:1
PRAYER: It is our privilege to bring praise, thanksgiving, confession and requests to God in times of prayer.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Phillipians 4:6
OFFERING: We collect an offering to support the work of our church as well as missions work in our country and around the world. This portion of the service is intended only for those who consider Hope Church their "church home"- guests are not expected to contribute!
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
What should I wear?
You will fit in at Hope Free Church whether you are dressed up or prefer a more casual look. You will see a wide range of styles at our services.
What is available for my children?
Nursery care is provided for children birth through 2 years old for both services. Nursery workers will meet you at the door to receive your child and you can provide any special instructions you may have. You will be given a pager. For safety reasons, your child will not be released to anyone who does return the pager assigned to that child.
Children Ministries is offered during the worship services for ages Kindergarten through 4th grade. They can join classes during both services for age-appropriate worship and Bible-focused activities. Attendance is optional- feel free to keep your children with you for the entire service if you prefer.
